We use two standard thickness of engravers' brass .064" & .020" (other thicknesses are available)
We refer to them as Thick & Thin brass. Our brass never needs polishing and cleans with soap & water.
On Thin Brass there are two methods of engraving - Diamond Drag and Burnishing

Diamond Drag - This is the style of engraving commonly done on Jewelry & Giftware. This is made using a diamond tipped cutter and it results in a thin line. When we use a multi-line letter like Times Roman of Old English it gives a distinctive look. We can also "acid wash" our brass plates after we engrave it to blacken the letters for better legibility.
Burnishing - This is made using a Carbide tipped cutter in a variety of widths resulting in a solid stroke letter. This is much bolder than Diamond Drag and it results in a letter that is easily readable. We typically "acid wash" it, so that you have maximum visibility.
Routing -This is the most impressive way of making a brass sign. We deeply engrave into the brass and then paint fill the letters with whatever color you like (typically black). This is the most beautiful brass sign for the most elegant look in interior signage.
